So what’s next for Daniel Gafford?
Fresh off of being selected with the 38th overall pick in the NBA Draft Thursday night by the Chicago Bulls, Gafford, a former standout at El Dorado and Arkansas, will likely be competing in the NBA Summer League, which gets underway next month.
The Bulls formally announced their schedule on Friday, which features four games in Las Vegas.
In their opener on July 5, the Bulls will take on the Los Angeles Lakers in a game that starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN.
On July 7, the Bulls will square off against Cleveland with ESPN televising the game at 6:30 p.m.
The New Orleans Pelicans, who drafted Duke’s Zion Williamson with the top pick in Thursday’s draft, take on the Bulls at 8:30 p.m. on July 8. NBA TV will be televising the game.
The Bulls’ final game will be on July 10 against Charlotte. NBA TV will be televising the game, which begins at 4 p.m.
Consolation games will be held on July 12-13.
The quarterfinals will start on July 13.
As a senior, Gafford led El Dorado to the 6A state finals, averaging 17.4 points per game, 16 rebounds and 7.7 blocked shots, earning News-Times Player of the Year honors.
As a freshman at Arkansas, Gafford was named to the SEC All-Freshman team, averaged 11.8 points and 6.2 rebounds, as the Razorbacks qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Gafford was a first-team All-SEC selection as a sophomore, averaging 16.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
Arkansas has been a favorite target for Chicago in recent years.
Four year ago, the Bulls selected Bobby Portis with their first-round pick.
