Drillers downed by Nationals

A seven-run fourth inning proved to be the undoing for the El Dorado Drillers Thursday night, as they fell to the Monroe (La.) Nationals 10-3.

The Drillers (11-6) led 1-0 until the Nationals’ rally in the fourth.

Ty Disotell drove in two runs while going 2-for-3 for the Drillers, while Tanner McLelland went 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.

Landen Rainwater, Tyler Johnson, Jackson Cook and Ashton Yarbrough each had one hit in the contest.

Rainwater drew a walk, stole a base and scored a run, while Cook stole a base and Johnson had an RBI.

Rainwater took the loss after allowing six runs in three innings of work. Only one of the six runs was earned. He allowed four hits, walked three and struck out three.

Westdan Owens allowed two runs (one earned) in two innings of work. He allowed three hits, walked one and struck out one.

Yarbrough allowed two runs (one earned) in one inning of work. He surrendered one hit, walked two and didn’t record any strikeouts.

The Drillers will be back in action Monday when they travel to Hope for a doubleheader.

Game time is set for 6 p.m.
