Rachel Monteene (Slaughter) Knighten Tanner of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on June 5, 2019. She was 87 years old and was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Elzie and Eva (Adams) Slaughter on December 27, 1931.
She is preceded in death by husbands Jack Knighten and Charles Tanner; her mother; father; and three brothers - Byron Slaughter, Jay Slaughter and Ray Slaughter.
She is survived by daughter Becky Renshaw of McKinney, TX; Chris Knighten and wife, Jann, of Fayetteville, AR; grandson Rane Renshaw of Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter Chandler Renshaw of Lubbock, TX; sister Glenna Wynne of El Dorado, AR; and sister-in-law Lou Slaughter of Camden, AR.
Monteene lived a life of devotion to her Christian faith and loved music and the arts. She sang in a gospel trio, composed and published hymns, taught piano lessons, and served the Lord as a church pianist and organist for more than fifty years in the church.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 10, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home, Wildwood Chapel at 10 a.m.. Visitation was Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Burial followed the funeral service at Restland Memorial Park, Valley View Garden.
