T.J. Bale turned in a sterling performance on the mound, but it wasn’t enough, as the El Dorado Oilers saw their three-game winning streak come to an end Thursday night with a 3-0 loss at the hands of the Ashley County Timber Rattlers in the opening round of the Bastrop (La.) Wood Bat Tournament.
Bale went the distance with a five-hitter and struck out 11, but the Oilers were limited to just five hits.
Bale, who walked two, allowed just one earned run.
The squads met last weekend at the Edward Jones Invitational with the Oilers posting a 6-5 win in pool play.
The Oilers had at least one hit in the second through sixth innings, but failed to dent the scoreboard.
Charles Hoof, Carson Worthey, Baylor Brumley, Cade Schibler and Reed Stone were all 1-for-3 for the Oilers.
Hoof, Worthey, Brumley and Stone also had one stolen base apiece in the contest.
The Oilers (3-2) will take on Beekman (La.) at 4 p.m. Friday.
