Bond was set at $50,000 Wednesday for an El Dorado man who appeared in 35th Judicial District Court on several felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident that began with a report of a domestic disturbance and ended with police setting up a perimeter to apprehend him.

Erik M. Wade, 38, of the 400 block of West Grove, was arrested Tuesday for aggravated assault on a family or household member, first-degree terroristic threatening and a warrant for parole violation.

Wade also faces misdemeanor charges of third-degree domestic battery, second-degree interference with emergency communications and fleeing.

Officers responded at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a domestic disturbance in progress at the West Grove Street residence, and upon arrival, Wade’s girlfriend told police that Wade had assaulted her. Police noted that the woman’s nose and lips were bloody and her face was swollen.

She told police that Wade punched and kicked her in the face during an argument and issued a terroristic threat against her.

The woman said Wade also choked her and attempted to strike her in the head with a glass vase at one point.

Officers received word that Wade was running behind the house and a foot chase ensued.

A short time later, Wade was spotted running across Lester Street and officers set up a perimeter covering the area of Lester, Union, Ouachita and Fifth Streets, according to a police report.

Investigators with the El Dorado Police Department’s Criminal Apprehension Division said they heard the call about the domestic disturbance and responded to the scene to assist.

While searching a wooded area nearby, an investigator reported seeing Wade running through the woods.

The investigator said Wade attempted to jump over two fences but he cleared only one and then fell between the fences.

Wade was positively identified as the suspect and he was taken into custody, police said.

He was issued a $50,000 cash or corporate surety bond during a first appearance hearing in district court.

Wade was determined to be indigent and was appointed a public defender.

He was also ordered not to have any contact with the victim and if he is released on bond from the Union County Jail, Wade must abide by a daily curfew of 5 p.m. until 7 a.m.

Robbery

El Dorado police responded Tuesday to a report of a home invasion in which the suspects reportedly made off with a large amount of cash.

Officers were called at 11:32 p.m. to a residence in the 1600 block of Short East Hillsboro in reference to an aggravated robbery.

The victims, a man and a woman, told officers they answered a knock at the door and two males wielding handguns forced their way inside the residence.

They said the suspects pointed the guns at them and ordered them to get down, saying, “We’re not going to hurt you. Just tell us where the money is.”

The suspects then lifted up the couch, busted open the bottom seal and removed a large bag containing $5,000 - $6,000 cash, the victims said.

They said the suspects also took three cellphones before leaving the residence.

Police noted the woman was holding the couple’s 11-month-old child when the robbery occurred.

The suspects were described as black males, one of whom wore a red shirt, jeans and a red scarf around his head and carried a black handgun with silver trim.

The second suspect was described as “a large black male,” wearing a black shirt and jeans with his face partially wrapped in a scarf. He was reportedly carrying a silver handgun.

One of the suspects has been identified, according to a police report.
