The El Dorado School Board was restructured at their June meeting, bringing new faces to some of the Board’s leadership positions.

Long-time board member Renee Skinner was elected by the board to serve as President.

Skinner has served on the El Dorado School Board for over ten years, including a previous stint as Board President.

“Being associated with the El Dorado School District is a source of pride for me. Teachers, administrators and classified employees are focused on making education the best it can be for students,” she said in response to a News-Times questionnaire earlier this year. “Our board consists of seven individuals who take their responsibilities seriously, treat one another with respect and are like-minded in their determination to make decisions based on what best serves students. Positive things are happening in El Dorado schools, and I enjoy being part of that positivity!”

Shaneil “PJ” Yarbrough was elected by the Board to vice president. Yarbrough was appointed to the Board in 2017, when former board member Chris Lutman stepped down after moving outside of the school zone he’d represented.

“I am very excited to have an opportunity to serve on the El Dorado School District Board. I believe a school district with a high standard can benefit our future leaders, our children,” she said in a previous interview with the News-Times. “While working alongside Mr. (Jim) Tucker (ESD Superintendent) and this wonderful group of board members, I hope to aide in making key decisions that will continue to strengthen our school district and community.”

Susan Turbeville, formerly president of the board, will now serve as the Immediate Past President. The current El Dorado School Board is made up of Vice President Yarbrough, Todd Whatley, President Skinner, Past President Turbeville, Wayne Gibson, Vicky Dobson and Keith Smith.
