ALLEN T. SMITH

Allen Travis Smith, age 82, left this earth on Saturday, January 12th, 2019 at the Baptist Health Center in Little Rock. He was borned on December 8th, 1936 to Clem Clay Smith and Ollie Wilma Jackson Smith in Mt Holly, Arkansas. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and attended church at Sandyland Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Prescolite Lighting after 42 years of employment where he met and made many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his father and mother, by his brothers Henry Clay and Calvin Odell Smith, by sisters Laura Elizabeth Smith Hulsey, Bertha Ophilia Smith Tinsley, Leola Smith Hambrick and Lillie Mae Smith Varnell and by his beloved son Raymond Allen Smith. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vertia Mae Smith, his two daughters Wanda (Reece) Young and Darlean (Tad) Hutchison, by five grandsons Stephen Randall Garner, Brian Allen (Olivia) Garner, Robert Daniel (Stephanie) Nash, Jason Lee (Taylor) Young, Michoal Reece (Jessica) Young, Sabrina Renea (Scotty) Warner, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Travis, as he was known to his friends and family was a family man, a musician, an avid reader and author of ten novels in his lifetime. He was also an avid Razorback fan and enjoyed talking about the Hogs with his very best friend Randall Davis. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 16th at 2:00 PM at Perry’s Funeral Chapels with Brother Bill McDaniels officiating. Burial will be at Silver Hill Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels. Pall Bearers will be Stephen Garner, Brian Garner, Dan Nash, Jason Young, Michoal Young, Randall Garner with alternates Patrick Williams and Randall Davis.
