Mary Lee Carr Beasley, 81, of El Dorado passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Timberlane Health and Rehab in the care of Life Touch Hospice.

Mary lee was born November 21, 1937 in El Dorado, the first-born child of Ashley Belton Carr, Sr. and Mary Alice Rogers Carr. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1956 where she played the flute in the band and was head majorette. Mary Lee married the love of her life Charles Vernon Beasley, Sr. on October 17, 1958, and together they raised three sons. She was active in the community until her stroke in July 2017. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 11 and was baptized at Southside Baptist Church. Mary was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church.

Mary retired from Cricket Beebe Child Care Center, Union Medical Center. She also cared for many children in her home. She loved to fish, to research family genealogy, to work outdoors on their home place and serve in her church. She crocheted over 6,000 caps for patients at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Mary loved to help and encourage others. Mary was an active member of the Union County Genealogical Society, El Dorado Connections, and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Charles; her sons, Charles (Chuck) Beasley, Jr., Samuel Beasley and Thomas Beasley all of El Dorado; her brother, Ashley Carr, Jr. of Palm Springs, California; her sister, Julia Ober of El Dorado; her granddaughter, Ashley Smith (Chad) of El Dorado; her precious great granddaughter Olivia Smith; nephew, Matthew Pizer of Carlsbad, New Mexico; and many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Mount Union Baptist Church. Memorial Services celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Mount Union Baptist Church. Cremation services provided by Perry’s Funeral Chapels

Memorials may be sent to Mount Union Baptist Church, Union County Genealogical Society, or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
