LITTLE ROCK - A big second quarter proved to be the difference, as El Dorado's freshman girls basketball team broke open a close game to pull away for a 48-26 win over Little Rock Parkview Monday.
The victory pushes El Dorado's record to 9-0 on the season.
The Lady Wildcats led 11-8 at the end of the opening period before outscoring the Lady Patriots 14-1 in the second quarter to take a 25-9 lead at intermission.
El Dorado's lead was sliced to nine at 32-23 after three periods of play, but the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Patriots 16-3 to win by the final margin.
"I'm really, really proud of their defense," said El Dorado coach John Koonce. "They have two players that are over six-feet tall, and they never relented on defense."
Kalese Moseby led the offensive charge for El Dorado with 23 points.
Destiny Davis added nine points with Braylee Johnson chipping in with six points.
WARRIORS TAKE TITLE
MONROE, La. - West Side Christian downed River Oaks (La.) 60-57 Saturday night in the finals of the Stockton Classic. The Warriors improved to 13-3.
Stephfan Tabe led West Side with 28 points while John Wylie scored 20.
West Side led 33-23 at the half and 48-42 going into the fourth quarter.
