County Arrests

• On Feb. 11, Willie J. Henry, 32, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of failure to appear. He was transported from the Sebastian County Jail.

• On Feb. 13, Dylan S. Reese, 26, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of motor vehicle theft., theft of property and breaking or entering.

• On Feb. 13, Dale E. Miley, 54, of Magnolia was arrested on charges of theft of property and breaking and entering.

• On Feb. 14, Robert J. Shelton, 57, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons. A deputy saw Shelton driving around the Tetra plant and stopped to make sure everything was alright. Shelton was walking his dog around the area and told the deputy he’d been trying to teach the dog to hunt raccoons. The deputy asked him to put the dog in the car for officer safety and then patted Shelton down, at which point he discovered shotgun shells in his jacket. The deputy then saw a shotgun in Shelton’s vehicle; Shelton had previously been convicted on felony charges, so he was arrested for having the firearm.

• On Feb. 14, Jennifer D. McManus, 34, of El Dorado was arrested on 51 counts of second-degree forgery.

• On Feb. 15, Grady W. Manning, 49, of El Dorado was transferred to the Union County Detention Center from the Calhoun County Jail after a warrant for a parole violation was filed against him.

• On Feb. 15, Michael S. Bailey, 46, of El Dorado was transferred to the Union County Detention Center from the Calhoun County Jail after a petition to revoke his probation was filed.

County Reports

• On Feb. 10, a man was arrested on charges of social host criminal liability. Another man reported that his son had left home overnight; the son was discovered at the arrested man’s house. When deputies arrived, the son appeared intoxicated. The man allowed them to search a shed where the son said they’d been hanging out; upon searching it, they discovered three more juveniles and two other young adults, along with a fully stocked bar and pornography. When the subjects in the shed were questioned, they said additional juveniles had been at the house the previous night as well and had been drinking. The bottles of alcohol in the bar were signed; the arrested man told deputies that it was a tradition for whoever finished the bottle to sign it and add it to the wall. One of the juveniles at the shed had a signed bottle on the wall. Deputies also discovered codeine cough syrup which the son had brought from his home, as it was prescribed to his mother. Deputies eventually discovered that the son had quit drinking at 1 a.m.; however, his BAC was still .14, indicating he’d consumed a dangerous amount of drugs and alcohol. He was also arrested, on charges of minor in possession of alcohol.

• On Feb. 11, a woman reported an incidence of domestic battery. She said she’d woken up that morning to her husband trying to have sex with her; when she turned him down, she said he became angry. She said he pinned her down by holding her wrists until she was able to roll over, at which point he bit her; deputies found marks on her shoulder consistent with bite marks. She said their five year old child was in the bed with them when this occurred. She said her husband then took their child and threatened her to the child, before taking the child to work with him rather than to the child’s school. After her husband left, the woman packed her things and left before coming to the Sheriff’s Office to file a report.

• On Feb. 11, a man reported damaged property at Rest Haven Cemetery. A deputy arrived to find a tractor parked in the middle of the cemetery. A man told the deputy the tractor’s company had been damaging headstones now and in past work they’ve done at the cemetery.

• On Feb. 11, a woman reported her husband strangling her. She said they’d been having marital problems so he’d been sleeping in their garage; when he came in for a shower that day, she said he started a fight. He then grabbed her and slammed her to the ground, pinning her arms down underneath his knees , before taking a gun from his hip and threatening her with it. She said he then strangled her with a whip he made, almost resulting in her passing out several times. She said he also punched her and would not allow her to talk. She said she could not escape no matter what she tried. After 45 minutes, he let her up, she said, and she left to pick up their children. Deputies observed bruising on her neck and both arms.

• On Feb. 11, a man was arrested on charges of third-degree assault on a family or household member. His wife reported that he’d come home drunk from work, sparking an argument. She said she sent their son to his vehicle to check for alcohol, and when her son reported finding beer in his dad’s car, his dad began chasing and threatening him. His mother had to physically stop his dad from chasing him. The man confirmed to deputies that he’d threatened his son and he was arrested.

• On Feb. 12, a man was attacked by dogs. The man sought treatment at South Arkansas Medical Association for dog bites. The dogs’ owner surrendered the dogs to the animal control officer, telling him they did not have any vaccinations.

• On Feb. 13, a man reported his firearm stolen. He said he’d left the gun on his nightstand when he went to bed; his cousin was the only one home when he went to bed. He said his cousin had asked to use the gun several times in the past but he had always refused. While filing the report, his cousin called; he denied taking the gun and asked that the man not mention his name in the report.

• On Feb. 13, a man was arrested on charges of harassment and public intoxication. Another man reported him walking around in the woods behind his home and acting strangely. A deputy located the man and asked why he went to the other man’s house; he replied that he didn’t know. The man kept making strange references and was eventually arrested on the above stated charges since he’d have two previous calls reporting him for the same issues.

• On Feb. 13, a man reported being robbed during an attempted drug deal. The man said he arranged to buy marijuana from two other men at Harmony Baptist Church in Junction City (the drug deal was to take place at the church). The man said when he met the drug dealers, one got into his car to do the deal; when he pulled out his wallet, he said, the drug dealer stole it and left. A deputy went to the alleged drug dealer’s house; the man was not there, but he did speak with the deputy on the phone. He said they’d agreed to sell the first man a legal synthetic marijuana; he said the sale went through fine and that the other man was lying about the robbery.

• On Feb. 14, a man reported that a wallet he’d reported missing had been returned to him; however, the wallet was missing the cash and a credit card that had been inside.

City Arrests

• Yvette L. Lee, 48, and Jessica L. Lee, 30, both of 615 W. Second, were arrested Feb. 15 on a felony and misdemeanor charge, respectively, of third-degree domestic battery. Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving the mother and daughter at their West Second Street residence. Yvette Lee said the younger woman, who is pregnant, struck her in the head during an argument. She said the blow knocked her to the ground, causing an injury to her knee. Police said a knot was forming on Yvette Lee’s head as they spoke to her and there was a grass stain on her knee. Jessica Lee said she struck her mother in self-defense after her mother struck her in the mouth during the argument. Police said Jessica Lee’s lower lip was busted and bleeding. Officers also noted that children who were present during the incident were visibly upset and the house was in disarray.

• Amy M. Davis, 30, of 501 W. Cedar, was arrested during a traffic stop Feb. 15 for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, sixth offense, and a Union County Sheriff’s Office warrant for child support enforcement. Michael J. Neal, 43, of 602 Garland, was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Officers said they initiated the traffic stop after they passed a vehicle on Calion Road and could not tell if the two occupants inside were wearing seat belts. A license plate check showed that the automobile insurance had been canceled on the vehicle, according to a police report. Police said they turned around to follow the vehicle and as they got closer, the driver, later identified as Davis, crossed to the opposite side of the street and parked illegally in the area of Calion and Hilton. After learning of an active UCSO arrest warrant, police took Davis into custody. During a search of the vehicle, police found a bag of methamphetamine and a syringe that appeared to have been used. Police said Neal, a passenger in the vehicle, was also taken into custody, noting that the bag of methamphetamine was within his and Davis’ reach.

• Jennifer C. Wood, 42, of Lillie, Louisiana, was arrested Feb. 12 on nine counts of second-degree forgery. Police responded to a report of a person attempting to cash a forged check at First Financial Bank, 500 Timberlane, and made contact with Wood in the drive-through. Wood told police that the victim, who she identified as her fiancé, had given her the check to cash. First Financial employees said the victim had called the bank the previous day and reported that Wood had forged eight checks, totaling $14,750, on his account. While on the scene, police spoke with the victim, who said he did not authorize any of the checks.

• On Feb. 13, a 14-year-old boy was issued a citation for aggravated assault. The boy allegedly retrieved a knife during a fight with his older brother at their residence in the 500 block of Beverly Drive.

• Garland A. Key, 26, of 511 S. Madison, was arrested Feb. 13 for possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. Police said they stopped Key in the area of South Washington and Pony after they spotted him walking between vehicles in a parking lot just north of the area. When officers asked Key “if he had anything on him,” he handed officers a bag containing crystal methamphetamine and a small bag of marijuana.

• Latoya R. Bridges, 28, of 2221 Lakeland, was arrested Feb. 11 for first-degree terroristic threating, obstructing governmental operations, refusal to submit to arrest and disorderly conduct. Police responded to a report of an unruly patient, later identified as Bridges, at Medical Center of South Arkansas. Police said Bridges yelled and used profanity and ignored commands to calm down. Bridges was taken into custody and continued to curse officers and hospital staff members, according to a police report. At one point, Bridges said she was not going to walk in the rain, stopped walking and pushed against officers as they escorted her to a patrol unit, police said. While en route to the Union County Jail, police said Bridges issued terroristic threats against them and MCSA staff. She also refused to provide her name and other information officers requested as they were booking her into the Union County Jail.

City Reports

• Employees of Mac’s Fresh Market, 511 N. West Ave., reported Feb. 14 the theft of a motorized shopping cart. Employees said a witness told them that a man drove away with the cart attached to his pickup truck and was heading north on North West Avenue. The suspect was described as an “older” black male with balding hair, wearing a red cap, gray hoodie and blue jeans. The truck was described as a green Chevrolet single-cab pickup that appeared to be a mid- to late-1990smodel. The truck was towing a trailer filled with pallets, according to a police report. The witness said the cart was attached to the passenger side of the vehicle. Police said surveillance video showed that the cart was parked on the passenger side of the truck at approximately 7 p.m., which is when the witness reported the theft to Mac’s employees.

• A woman told police Feb. 14 that someone broke into her vehicle and stole a heated car-seat cushion and $2 in change.

• A woman reported Feb. 13 an unauthorized debit of $300 on her bank account. She said the transaction was used as a payment for an account with AT&T. A possible suspect was identified.

• A man told police Feb. 13 that someone broke into his residence in the 500 block of South Madison and stole a hammer drill, power drill, skill saw and drill bits. The man provided information about a possible suspect.

• On Feb. 13, police reported finding three debit/credit cards in the 1300 block of Combs. After officers made contact with the owner of the cards, a Texas man, he reported that someone had broken into his vehicle. The man said he initially thought onlya skill saw had been taken. A woman later told officers that she found another debit card belonging to the victim underneath the carport at her residence in the 1300 block of Robinson. Police said they found the cards Feb. 12 after responding to an unrelated report about hand tools and other items that had been found in the 1300 block of Combs. Officers said they also recovered what appeared to be sensitive documents from the Ouachita County Sheriff’s Office from the scene.

• A woman told police Feb. 12 that her ex-boyfriend issued a terroristic threat against her and told her that he previously broke into her residence in the 140 block of Hargett. Police said there were no signs of forced entry into the residence.

• A woman told police Feb. 12 that she learned two people were inside her residence in the 1300 block of West First without her permission. She said a witness told her the two males had gone inside her bedroom and closet. The complainant her bedroom door is typically padlocked and police said the locking mechanism had been ripped from the door. The woman said a third male, who was reportedly inside the residence at the time, was authorized to be there.

• A man told police Feb. 11 that someone keyed his vehicle at his residence in the 900 block of North Yocum. Police said there were scratches on the hood, trunk and passenger and driver’s sides of the vehicle.

• Police responded Feb. 10 to a burglar alarm at Woods Development, 1215 W. Hillsboro. Police said the front door was open when they arrived, noting that it appeared the door had been forced open. They also said a drawer in an office desk was open. Approximately$1,000 cash was reported missing from the drawer.
