REBECCA LEE BLY PHELPS

Funeral services for Rebecca Lee Bly Phelps will be held Sunday, Feb.3 at 2 p.m. at New London Baptist Church near Strong, AR under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels. Mrs. Phelps passed from this life and into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday Feb. 1 at the age of 89. Officiating at the services will be Rev. Terry Smith and Rev. Marshall Douglas. Services will be under the direction of Perry Funeral Home.

Becky, as she was known to most, was born to F.O. and Mary Susan Bly on Oct. 31, 1929 in Pascagoula MS. She lived most of her life in the Strong community and was a member of New London Baptist Church for most of her adult life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, John Allen Phelps Sr., a daughter, Teresa Parker Douglas, three sisters, Ruby Pipkin, Freddie Bly and Mary Nell Barnett.

Mrs. Phelps is survived by a son, Johnny Phelps and wife Donnie, daughters, Louise Douglas and husband Marshall, and Sue Geter and husband Lee Ray; eight grandchildren, Jeff Saunders, Angie Phelps Baker (Scott), Kim Saunders Young (Bryon), John David Phelps (Amanda), Rhonda Phelps Seat, Phillip Geter (Alicia), Adrianne Parker DeLancey (Josh), and Kristi Geter Pruett (David); and 19 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Phelps was retired from the Mahoney and Yocum Law Firm where she worked for the majority of her working life. She also was quite active in New London Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and served as church treasurer for many years. Even after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2010 she continued to be an active member of the church.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Phelps, Michael Phelps, Boyd Fife, Barry McDowell, Rod Flen and Todd Thompson. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Phelps Road near Strong.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the New London Baptist Church library fund or to Lifetouch Hospice.
