El Dorado Boys & Girls Club holding gun raffle fundraiser

The Hunter’s Paradise Raffle has returned to the Boys and Girls Club of El Dorado, with $20,000 worth of guns available to win through the contest.

“These guns are — they’re expensive guns,” said David Lee, executive director of the BGCE. “They’re really nice. [They average] around $1,000.”

The prize guns are all hunting guns, including shotguns and lever and bolt action rifles from manufacturers such as Remington, Browning, Weatherby and Christensen. Ticket-holders will also be eligible to win a Sig Sauer optics kit, which includes a scope and rangefinder that can sync to one another through Bluetooth.

Bow hunters are also recognized in the raffle, with an $800 gift card to Slingin’ Arrows up for grabs as well. Two gift certificates to Specialty Gun Works, a local specialty gun shop located on Hinson Road, in the amounts of $800 and $1,000 are also available.

“And if your ticket is drawn, your ticket goes back into the box,” Lee said. “So you could really win 20 times.”

While the contest is exclusive, with only 500 tickets available for purchase, those who enter will have multiple chances to win. A person’s name will be re-entered into the drawing box if it is drawn. There are 20 total chances to win.

The BGCE is careful to ensure the raffle guns don’t fall into the wrong hands. Ticket holders must provide their identification to win; they must also be at least 21 years old, a United States resident and capable of passing a background check. If a winner does not meet these qualifications, a new winner will be drawn immediately.

The drawing will begin Sept. 16 and will continue with two draws each weekday until every prize has been won. Tickets cost $100 each and may be purchased by calling 870-863-8753. Depending on availability, tickets may be still be purchased after the drawing begins.

“Basically you’re buying 20 $5 tickets,” Lee said. “They’re just phenomenal guns. They’re really good guns.”

The prize guns were purchased by the BGCE from Specialty Gun Works. The BGCE hopes to raise as much as $30,000 from the fundraiser to go towards general operation costs of the Northwest Unit Youth Center and the Weatherington Unit Teen Center.
