City Arrests

• James H. Davis, 47, of the 800 block of East Fourth was arrested Aug. 20 on a warrant for delivery of methamphetamine.

• Jimmy R. Gill, 38, of 520 Stuart Ave., was arrested Aug. 20 for possession of a firearm by certain persons, first-degree false imprisonment, fleeing on foot and third-degree battery. At 12:28 a.m., officers responded to a report of a possible disturbance at a residence in the 2100 block of North Newton. Dispatchers reported they could hear woman saying she “just wanted to leave” during a 911 call. Upon arrival, police said the saw the daytime running lamps of a vehicle in the driveway of the residence and a male, later identified as Gill, was speaking to a woman inside the vehicle. Gill told officers he and the woman “were fine,” and when police asked him to step away from the vehicle, they could see that the woman was covered in blood. The woman told police that Gill had hurt her and Gill began running, according to a police report. A foot chase ensued as Gill ran to the back of the residence and into the back door, police said, noting they briefly struggled with Gill over the door handle before he was able to slam the door shut and lock it. Police said the woman began backing her vehicle out of the driveway and as they ran toward her, she yelled that Gill had a gun and advised officers not to enter the residence. The Texas woman said Gill became angry when she told him she did not want to pursue a romantic relationship with him and he grabbed her by her hair, dragged her to the back bedroom and began striking her in the nose and mouth. She said Gill would not allow her to leave the residence and would twist her left arm behind her back every time she attempted to leave. Police said the woman had blood on her face, arms, legs and shirt. They said the inside of her bottom lip was cut and she had a bruise and what appeared to be a scratch on her left arm. She said that when she and Gill walked into the kitchen, he produced a handgun, held it to his head and threaten to kill himself if she left. The woman said she was able to make it outside and Gill followed her, leaned into the window of her vehicle and would not move. She said she then called 911. Police said Gill called the woman’s cellphone several times as they were speaking with her and when she answered one of the calls, they spoke with Gill, who agreed to surrender. Moments later, he exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. Gill told officers that the woman bit him during a fight. Police said they felt a lump in the area where Gill said he had been bitten.

• Decameron S. Evans, 19, of Spearsville, Louisiana, was arrested Aug. 19 for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and fleeing. Police initiated a traffic stop in the area of Smith and Faulkner after the driver of a vehicle disregarded a stop sign. Officerssaid the driver did not immediately stop and continued east before turning into the driveway of a residence in the 800 block of East Faulkner. Police said a passenger, later identified as Evans, exited the vehicle and began walking south, ignoring commandsto get back inside. He then began running and turned east behind the residence, police said. Evans was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Police noted they caught up to him and pulled him to the ground as he was climbing a fence. During a searchincident to arrest, police said they found a small bag of marijuana and $1,625.00 cash in Evans’s left pants pocket. Police said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana in the area and they found a large bag of marijuana on the ground on the other side of the fence that Evans was climbing and a small marijuana bud on the fence post. Police said the marijuana they recovered weighed a total of 74 grams.

City Reports

• A woman reported Aug. 23 the theft of her vehicle from her residence in the 500 block of Kearing.

• An employee of Walmart Supercenter, 2730 N. West Ave., told police Aug. 23 that a man stole a hat. The complainant said he and another employee confronted the man and when they asked him to go to the complainant’s office, thesuspect shoved the complainant in the right shoulder and ran into a wooded area north of the store.

• On Aug. 23, officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at Entergy, 2415 N. West Ave. An employee told police he received a notification that someone was walking on the loading docks of the facility. Police said several rolls of copper wire had been thrown overthe fence on the south end of the property and they found several more rolls of copper wire and a pair of athletic shoes in a wooded area nearby. On the ground near the copper wire in the woods was a backpack containing a cellphone and a pair of sandals,police said.

• A man told police Aug. 23 that someone broke into his residence in the 800 block of Camp and stole a TV and bedding items. He identified a potential suspect, telling police that he had gone to a nearby convenience store and on his way home, he saw a malehe knew carrying a TV wrapped in a blanket.

• A woman told officers Aug. 23 that a woman she knew issued a terroristic threat against her. A witness corroborated the woman’s statements, telling police the suspect made the threats during a phone call. Policesaid the threats were captured on a videotaped recording of the call.

• A woman told police Aug. 22 that her boyfriend struck her several times in the face and head during an argument. She said the suspect threw her cellphone and shattered it. Police said the woman’s right eye was bruised and swollen, right eye to be extremelyswollen and bruised and she had a large bite mark on her right arm. Police noted they spoke with the woman while she was being treated at Medical Center of South Arkansas, 700 W. Grove. The woman later told officers the suspect only struck her once.

• The owner of PRO-Vent Oil and Lube Shop, LLC, 935 Strong Highway, told police Aug. 22 that someone broke into five vehicles at the business. He said the suspect stole a winch from the toolbox of his truck and the trailer hitch to the truck. Tow other vehicle owners reported a stereo system and a pair of multi-tool pliers stolen. Police said they were not able to immediately contact the other two owners.

• A woman told police Aug. 21 that the father of her child broke into her residence in the 700 block of Brookstone Drive and issued terroristic threats against her, another resident and the complainant’s boyfriend. She said the suspect kicked in the front door,which struck the other resident in the mouth. The suspect then began yelling profanity and issuing terroristic threats, ignoring numerous commands to leave the residence, according to a police report. Police noted they saw one of the terroristic threats in a text-message exchange betweenthe suspect and complainant. Police said they then went to the suspect’s residence in the 100 block of Clark Avenue, noting that one the suspect’s relatives had called emergency dispatchers prior to officers being called to the Brookstone residence. The suspect’srelative said police “needed to come get the suspect because he had done something wrong.” Police said the suspect was not at the Clark Avenue residence when they arrived.

• On Aug. 19, a man told police that someone broke into his residence in the 700 block of Liberty and stole a sawed-off shotgun and prescription medication. He said his two dogs were also missing, noting they were gone when he went outside to feed them.

• A man reported Aug. 19 that a man attempted to break into his residence in the 1100 block of Edmonds. He said the suspect also tried to break into two vehicles at the residence. The complainant said he and his wife were out of town at the time and the incident was captured on surveillance video. When he received a cellphone alert that someone was on his property, the man said he confronted the suspect remotely using the remote features of his security system. He said the suspect identified himself as “T Dog” and continued attempts to break into the residence. He also said the suspect stole a flashlight from the carport. The complainant told police that the suspect came back to the residence after he and his wife returned later that day.

• A woman told police Aug. 18 that a woman she knew came to her residence in the 600 block of East Hillsboro and wielded a gun. The complainant said the suspect “violently knocked on the door,” while yelling the name of a man who lived there. The complainant said that when she answered the door, the suspect waved a gun at her and demanded that the man come outside. She said the suspect pulled the trigger but the gun did not fire. The complainant said she shut the door and called 911, noting that the suspect drove away, heading east and then turning south onto Nelson. The suspect reportedly drove a dark colored Kia Optima.
