Woman arrested for threatening alleged suspect in car fire

An El Dorado woman was cited early Friday morning after she allegedly issued a terroristic threat against a potential suspect in a fire that damaged her vehicle.

Katrina L. McGhee, 29, of the 1600 block of Short East Hillsboro initially faced a felony charge of first-degree terroristic threatening but the charge was later downgraded to second-degree terroristic threatening, a misdemeanor.

The El Dorado police and fire departments responded just before 4 a.m. Friday to a report of a vehicle fire at the woman’s residence.

Emergency responders said McGhee’s Hyundai Accent was ablaze in the parking lot when they arrived on the scene. Firefighters extinguished the flames but were not able to determine the cause of the fire, according to a police report. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Officers noted that McGhee was visibly upset. She identified a potential suspect, saying that the suspect had burned her vehicle and slashed the tires the previous day.

She cited ongoing problems with the alleged suspect and issued a terroristic threat against the suspect in the presence of officers, who initially arrested her on a felony charge.

After further investigation, McGhee was cited for a first appearance Friday in 35th Judicial District Court for terroristic threatening in the second-degree, a misdemeanor.

Police noted that an active court order bars the alleged suspect from having any contact with McGhee and her boyfriend.

McGhee told officers that the suspect, her ex-boyfriend, previously attacked her current boyfriend and has repeatedly harassed her.
