Hogue's homer lifts Lady Dragons to victory

Laura Hogue connected on a three-run home run in the fourth inning Tuesday, lifting Junction City to a 4-1 non-conference victory at Smackover.

The Lady Dragons improved to 14-9 on the season while the Lady Bucks fell to 20-3.

The Lady Dragons' Charly Temple held Smackover's potent offense to just two hits. Temple walked one and struck out eight batters.

The Lady Bucks took the lead on Lydia Pullin's solo home run in the third inning.

Junction City came back in the fourth with four runs on five hits. Taykeetria Rogers led off with a single and scored on a double by Temple. Grace McGoogan reached on a base hit before Hogue connected with the three-run, two-out home run.

Abbi Crawford took the loss for Smackover, yielding four runs on eight hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Pullin and Crawford had the lone hits for the Lady Bucks.

Temple and Rogers both went 2-for-4 for the Lady Dragons.

Smackover plays Taylor on Thursday at Southern Arkansas University.
