Mother and son to appear in court for alleged knife attack

An El Dorado woman and her son are expected to appear today in 35th Judicial District Court on felony battery charges for allegedly attacking the mother’s boyfriend with a knife.

Cherreeia N. Watkins, 37, and her son, Christopher T. Williams, 19, were each arrested early Tuesday morning on charges of second-degree domestic battery.

Watkins faces additional charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Williams was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers responded just before 1 a.m. to a report of a man without a shirt walking in the area of Bradford and Coy Dumas.

While en route to the scene, police made contact with 37-year-old Bobby R. Ford, who was walking in the area of West Eighth and Emmett.

Police said Ford was bleeding profusely from lacerations to his head, face, chest and hands.

Ford declined medical treatment and officers’ requests to photograph his wounds, according to a police report.

He told officers that Watkins, his girlfriend, attacked him with “some sort of knife” after accusing him of cheating.

Ford said the incident took place at their residence in the 1400 block of Harold Ellen.

Officers went to the residence and saw a large amount of blood in the carport, with a trail leading from the back door.

Police said they could hear someone moving inside the residence, but no one would open the door when officers attempted to make contact with the residents.

Fearing someone may be injured inside the residence and unable to answer the door, police said they kicked the front open and entered the residence.

Watkins and Williams emerged from the hallway and walked into the living room and police ordered them onto the floor.

Police said Watkins was bleeding from an injury to her lip and Williams had a scrape on one of his toes. Blood on Williams’ shirt did not appear to be his, police said.

Both declined medical attention, according to a police report.

Police said there was blood throughout the residence, including the living room, kitchen, hallway and bedroom.

Watkins told police that she “had been jumped” and acted in self-defense but would not provide further information about the incident

Following a brief investigation, Watkins and Williams were taken into custody on charges of second-degree domestic battery.

During a search incident to arrest, police said they seized from the kitchen two knives with blood on them.

Police said a glass pipe and a grinder with marijuana inside were on the coffee table in the living room and they found a wooden smoking pipe on Williams’ person.
