Easter egg hunts set for this week

With Easter just around the corner, several area groups have planned Easter egg hunts around town.

At 5:30 p.m. today, a community Easter egg hunt, hosted by First United Methodist Church, will be held at the Murphy Arts District Amphitheater. The event will include bounce houses, horseback rides, games and free food. For more information, call 870-862-1341.

In Huttig, West Fraser sponsors an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Friday at Huttig City Hall, with a grand prize egg for each age group. Children through age 12 can participate, but must bring their own basket.

The Advanced Health and Rehab of Union County will be having an Easter Egg Hunt from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Friday at 1700 E. Short Hillsboro St. The event is for children only, and attendees should bring their own basket. The event also will feature Kernel Mustard’s Hot Dog Stand.

The Parkers Chapel United Methodist annual Easter Hunt is set from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at Parkers Chapel Softball Field. Pictures can be taken with the Easter Bunny, and hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served. Prizes will be given away and a bounce house will be available. Everyone is invited.

The East Main Baptist Church Easter Eggstravaganza is set from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, with the egg hunt at 12:30 p.m. The event is for children up to and including those in the sixth grade. At 10:15 a.m. Sunday, there will be a new special series: Razorbacks and the Bible, featuring games, prizes, bounce house, a Bible story, free hot dogs, chips and popcorn.

The sixth annual Sharion Bailey Whitlock Proclamation and Birthday Weekend and Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza kicks off this weekend and the Easter egg hunt will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday in the area of Lester and Columbia behind Arby’s Restaurant. Participants will hunt for 1,000 plastic eggs containing candy or notifications to redeem prizes. Golden eggs will contain notifications for grand prizes, which will include bicycles, electronic devices, gift cards and an assortment of toys. Hunters who find eggs with prize notifications may take the notifications to prize tables in order to claim their winnings.

Family Fun Day activities will immediately follow the Easter egg hunt and will include a bounce house, bingo, motorcycle rides, face-painting, three-point shootout and a talent show.
