PARKERS CHAPEL - Drue Thomas threw a no-hitter and Halley Evers went yard Friday as Parkers Chapel shut out Harmony Grove 15-0 at Swilley Field. The Lady Trojans improved to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in conference.

Parkers Chapel banged out 13 hits in four at-bats. The Lady Trojans scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the game via the mercy rule.

“We had time this week. We’ve been working on trying to get our bats back in sync and get everything going. Today they came out to play. They hit the ball well,” said PC coach Rhonda Swilley. “Glad to have a good game. We feel like we’re getting ready for the postseason.”

Thomas walked three and struck out eight in four innings.

“Drue did a great job on the mound,” said Swilley. “Struggled a little bit at times but she was trying different pitches and putting them in specific spots. Sometimes they hit. Sometimes they don’t. But, she came through for us.”

The Lady Trojans scored two in the first. Kaylin Waller beat out an infield hit and scored on Thomas’ single. After a single by T.K. Burson, Kylie Jones drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to left.

PC added four in the second on four hits and three Harmony Grove errors. Kamryn Cross’ line drive to left was misplayed for a two-base error. Cross went to third on a stolen base and scored on a sac fly by Ciara Pharr. Evers, the next batter, swung and missed on two high pitches but, on a 3-2 count, found a high one she could handle and drove it high and deep over the fence in leftfield.

“She’s had a little struggle. She had gotten hurt and came back. She got a hold of a good one today,” said Swilley, who noted the two swings and misses. “How far was she under the ball on the first two and then connected? As we say, it only takes one.”

Waller followed with an infield hit and later scored on a single by Thomas. Burson drove in a run with a base hit.

Parkers Chapel ended the game in the fourth. Kenlee McAuliffe reached on an error and Thomas singled. Burson walked to load the bases. Jones plated two runs with a single, which chased the Lady Hornets’ starter India Garcia. Synthia English entered the circle and quickly produced a pair of infield pop ups.

But, Pharr’s grounder to short was misplayed, allowing a run to score. After Evers was hit by a pitch and Waller walked, McAuliffe drove in a run with a base hit. Thomas followed with a two run single. After a run scored on a wild pitch, Burson ended the game with a two-run single.
