ASHDOWN – Six errors proved fatal for Smackover Wednesday as the Lady Bucks fell to Ashdown 4-0. Smackover fell to 15-2, 6-1 while the Lady Panthers improved to 12-6, 5-1.

Ashdown scored two runs in the second and two more in the fifth. The Lady Panthers scored all of their unearned runs with two outs. Meanwhile, Smackover was limited to five hits by Ashdown pitcher Angelina McGinn.

“We had 11 pop-ups. You’re not going to score many runs on pop-ups,” said Smackover coach Dennis Steele. “And then they came out flat in the field, didn’t play very good defense.”

Karis Robinson absorbed the hard-luck loss, despite surrendering just five hits and two walks. Robinson struck out eight batters.

A walk and two errors led to the two early runs by Ashdown. In the fifth, Smackover committed three errors, including two after two were out.

Lydia Pullin had two hits for the Lady Bucks. Abbi Crawford had a double with Sabrina Estridge and Vanessa Lofton accounting for the team’s other hits.

Smackover travels to Fouke Thursday.
