Dear Editor:

I have noticed a couple of dangerous things around town. First is the section of Mt. Holly between College Avenue and Bradley. There is a ditch along one side that at night is almost invisible. When raining, it is totally invisible. The street light is too old and dim and there is no white line along the edge of the street. In a wreck, can the city be sued for allowing a dangerous road condition to exist?

I have also noticed that city employees are not allowing basic safety rules. Both the road crews and EWU are blocking streets and there are not any safety cones, reflectors or flaggers. In the one or two times I have seen a flagger, they had no safety vest or even an orange flag. The last one I saw was on North West Avenue. He was dressed in dark clothes and standing beside the rear tire of a front end loader. He was totally invisible.

Can the city finally get around to repaving the auditorium parking lot? Whatever you decided to do about enlarging it, for now just repave what’s there and stripe it.
