Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Murphy USA President and CEO Andrew Clyde welcomed more than 130 Symetra Tour golf professionals from around the world to Arkansas on Tuesday evening to launch the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout LPGA qualifying event.

The 2018 Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout presented by PepsiCo will be held Sept. 14-16 at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado. Admission is free all three days of the tournament thanks to the generous support of First Financial Bank.

Hutchinson joined Clyde at the Meet the Pros event on Tuesday evening at the Griffin Music Hall, part of the new Murphy Arts District in downtown El Dorado, along with some of the top female professional golfers on the Symetra Tour.

The Symetra Tour professional golfers represent the international golf community, with players hailing from all over the United States, as well as Europe, South America, Australia, Africa, and Asia. This diverse and prestigious field of players are all competing to become the 2018 Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout Champion and ultimately qualify for a spot on the LPGA tour.

Wednesday morning, Clyde gave Hutchinson a tour of Mystic Creek Golf Club, where tournament play will be held.

Symetra Tour professionals call Mystic Creek “one of the best courses we play all year,” and the course has risen to national prominence over the past four years, thanks to the international attention it has received as a stop on the Symetra Tour.

Designed by acclaimed golf architect Ken Dye, the par-72 course, with its Champion Bermuda greens and Celebration Bermuda fairways, is considered one of the top courses in the United States.

Numerous activities occur throughout tournament week, including a Junior Clinic Monday that boasted record-breaking attendance, and Pro-Am scrambles that pair Symetra Tour professionals with various local and national sponsors.

This is the fourth year that Murphy USA and the El Dorado community will host the 54-hole strokeplay format event, which was recently recognized as the 2017 Sporting Event of the Year by the Arkansas Festivals & Events Association.
