WEST MEMPHIS - A fourth-quarter run brought El Dorado's season to an end on Wednesday, as the Wildcats fell to Jacksonville 92-71 in the opening round of the 6A State Tournament on Wednesday.
El Dorado fought back from a 23-13 deficit after the opening quarter to trail 38-37 at intermission.
The Titans led 61-54 after three quarters before outscoring the Wildcats 31-17 in the final stanza to advance.
The Titans (14-15), who are the East's No. 5 seed, will take on 6A East champion and defending state champion Jonesboro in the quarterfinals today.
The Wildcats (13-17), who entered as the West's No. 4 seed, saw their season end with a third straight loss after nailing down a spot in the state tournament with a win at Greenwood in the first round of the 6A West Conference Tournament.
Gerald Doakes, who ranks as one of the top sophomores in the state and didn't play in the Titans' 61-53 win over the Wildcats at the Coca-Cola Classic in Fort Smith during the regular season, had 27 points in the rematch to lead Jacksonville.
Joderrio Ramey led the Wildcats with 25 points, while Brenden Johnson added 15 points.
Bishop Foster and Brendan Simmons chipped in with seven points apiece, Keshun Greene grabbed 10 rebounds while scoring six points and Kyle Jordan rounded out the Wildcats with six points.
