RODNEY WIMBERLY

Rodney Wimberly, 68 of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born June 10, 1950 in Shreveport, LA. to Opal Jones Wimberly and the late Howard Wimberly.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister Florence Julie Wimberly.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Jayne; mother Opal Wimberly of Shreveport; sons Rodney Wimberly Jr. (Michelle) and Chris Wimberly both of Portland, OR.; son Todd Norris (Cara) of Sherwood, AR.; and daughters Holly McElroy and Amanda Adams (Jason) both of El Dorado, AR. He is also survived by a sister Tonia (Dennis) Clark and nephews Matthew and John. Ten grandchildren survive him, Stephanie, Tristan, Caleb, Abigail, Leslie, Lucy, Jackson, Carter, Olivia and Adam.

Rodney was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of First Baptist Church. In his later years, he was talk show host for Noalmark Broadcasting. He was a wild LSU fan, avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also taught hunter education. Often referred to as one of El Dorado’s most colorful individuals, Rodney had a keen interest exposing government misuse.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Young’s. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
