Dragons advance at Dual State

JUNCTION CITY - Junction City’s senior boys advanced in the Dual State Tournament Thursday with a 54-46 win over Fordyce. The Dragons return to action today in the championship game against Summerfield, beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Junction City was led by Jerrodney Tubbs, who scored 19 points. Jakendall Henderson added 13.

Jalen Parham and Damon Rice led the Redbugs with 17 and 12, respectively.

The Dragons led 16-9 after the first quarter and were up 28-19 at the half.

Summerfield 61,

Hampton 40

The Rebels downed Hampton to reach the boys final. Zach Kinghan led Summerfield with 24 points while Derrick Royal added 16.

Summerfield led 10-9 after one quarter 22-21 at the half. The Rebels pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Hampton 20-6.

Jahad Junior scored 13 to lead the Bulldogs. JaQuez Cross contributed 11 and Jalyn Jones chipped in with nine.

The Bulldogs take on Fordyce today at 3 p.m. for third place.

Lafayette County 56,

Crossett 51

Andreus Deoner pumped in 29 points to lead Lafayette County past the Eagles.

The Cougars led 11-6 after one quarter and 27-19 at the half.

Jaylon Brown led Crossett with 21 points while Derrick Luckey added 18.

C.J. Williams added nine for Lafayette County, which plays Warren today at 1 p.m.

Senior Girls

Warren 39,

Summerfield 33

The Lady Lumberjacks downed Warren in Dual State girls action. Faith Jackson led Warren with 11 points.

Meadors and Robinson scored 12 and nine, respectively, to lead the Lady Rebels.

Summerfield takes on Junction City today at 4:15 p.m.

Junior Boys

Crossett 37,

Fordyce 30

Jaylon Brown scored 11 points to lead the Eagles past Fordyce. Santarip Scott chipped in with eight.

Merritt led the Redbugs with 19.

Fordyce plays Lafayette County today at 2 p.m. for third place. Crossett plays Warren at 5:30 p.m. for the junior boys championship.

Warren 36,

Lafayette County 33

Payne scored 18 to lead Warren past the Cougars.

Bailey led Lafayette County with 24 points.

Lafayette County plays Fordyce today at 2 p.m. in the third place game. The Lumberjacks face Crossett today at 5:30 p.m.
