Attempted robbery made at First Financial Bank branch

A juvenile was arrested Wednesday on charges of attempted aggravated robbery and fleeing the scene after an alleged robbery attempt at the First Financial Bank branch located on East Main.

Capt. Kevin Holt, public information officer for the El Dorado Police Department, said law enforcement were alerted around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday to a subject standing outside the doors of the bank wearing a bandana wrapped around his face.

Holt said the call had already been made to law enforcement when the subject began to enter the bank. The subject turned to leave as officers were arriving on the scene, then the subject fled on foot.

Holt said the juvenile was arrested and taken into custody on Omega Street, across from the bank.

“After a short investigation, and we are continuing to investigate, he was arrested for an attempted aggravated robbery,” Holt said. “He was also charged with fleeing.”

Holt added that no money was stolen from the bank.

The security officer for the bank was unable to be reached for comment as of press time Wednesday.

The same First Financial Bank branch was robbed in December 2011, in which suspects approached two bank employees as they were refilling the ATM.
