El Dorado High School announce homecoming activities

Several activities are planned Oct. 20 for El Dorado High School’s 89th annual Homecoming. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Celebrate the Holidays with the Wildcats.”

Holidays have been assigned as followed: seniors — Christmas, juniors — Mardi Gras, sophomores — Halloween and freshmen — Valentines. An alumni reception will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 20 in the El Dorado High School Commons.

The Homecoming Assembly will begin at approximately 1:35 p.m. in the El Dorado High School Arena. Former homecoming queens, football lettermen and alumni will be recognized following the presentation of the 2017 homecoming court. Only homecoming participants will be allowed on the court during the assembly.

EHS students will be dismissed immediately after the assembly. Students in the elementary and middle schools will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. with buses running their regular routes.

Line-up for the homecoming parade will be from 2 to 3:15 pm. Judged entries must be in line by 3:15 p.m. at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium with the parade

beginning at 3:45 p.m. The parade will proceed south on North West Avenue to Main Street, east on Main Street to Washington, north on Washington to 5th Street and west on 5th Street back to the auditorium.

More Homecoming activities are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the stadium, including the crowning of Paula Harris, 2017 Homecoming Queen. The EHS Wildcats will take on the Siloam Springs Panthers at 7 p.m. Fans who wish to sit on the west home side are encouraged to arrive early.

The west gate will be closed once capacity is reached. The overflow will be directed to the east stands at that point. Children in grades below seventh must be accompanied by an adult.
