Verilee “Vera” Gill, 92, of Smackover, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.

Born Nov. 17, 1924 in Joyce City, she was the daughter of John Coleman and Arzetta Dillahunt. Vera was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, gardening and caring for family. She was a member and an active missionary of Olive Light AME.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther L. Gill; eight brothers and sisters, including brother, William Coleman and sister, Linnie Blackmon; and son, Lawrence Gill.

She is survived by her daughters, Franciene Gill of Kansas City, Missouri, Nadine Gill of Smackover, and Zettie Rivers of Mount Clemons, Michigan; sons, Garland Gill of Smackover, and Aldwin Gill of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Also, left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Tametra Nunn, Roderick Gill, Fredrick Gill, Angelita Gill, Nicholas Gill and Amber Brooks; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Sanders, Quaid Gill, Alyse Gill, Cayden Gill, Cade Gill, Naiomi Brooks, Daivyon Brooks and Joshua Thomas; and her canine companion, “Duckie.”

Visitation will be from 12:30 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Young’s in El Dorado.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13 at Young’s with the Rev. Allison Howell officiating.

Burial will be Friday at noon at Little Rock National Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. An online registry is available at www.youngsfuneralhome.com.
