December 20, 2019 9:11 a.m.

Siandhara Bonnet, staff writer Union County and El Dorado law enforcement shopped with Union County and El Dorado students for Cops for Kids Thursday. Officers, some of who were on their day off, picked out toys with students for themselves and family. Students were allowed to spend about $180 each. Lt. Scott Harwell said about $11,000 was raised for students, which allows the program to start with a cushion for next year. “Thanks to the community, we’ve had an outpouring of love,” Harwell said. He said officers donate monthly to the program with the goal of shopping with 40-50 kids. This year, a total of 40 students benefitted from the program. The kids also had an option of having the presents wrapped by law enforcement.
