Trio provides leadership for youthful Lady Warriors

West Side Christian is not a member of the Arkansas Activities Association, which means it can field athletic rosters with students in grades 7-12. The Lady Warriors have a volleyball roster of 18 players, including 13 in grades 7-9. There’s already a huge difference between the average seventh grader and a high school senior. So, standing the girls side-by-side in a physically competitive setting could be a bit of a strain on all involved.

Wildcats show surprising depth at tailback

By Tony Burns Sports Editor Keonte Larry, El Dorado’s starting tailback, left Friday’s game at Benton with an injury in the first half. The Wildcats inserted Devonte Yarbrough into the backfield. On a fourth-and-3 in the third quarter, Coach Scott Reed gave the ball to Yarbrough, who picked up the first down.

PC duo sets sights on Overall Tennis Tourney

Parkers Chapel’s Kenlee McAuliffe and Ali Looney are twins. No, they’re not sisters but they’re definitely twins. They’re also the 2A state champions in girls doubles. McAuliffe and Looney dropped just one set last week in winning the title in Bentonville. Today, they open play in the Overall State Tennis Tournament at Burns Park.

Teams compete in Lake Hamilton

Cross Country teams from El Dorado and Parkers Chapel traveled to Hot Springs Saturday morning and competed in the highly-competitive Lake Hamilton Invitational. The meet included 44 teams and more than a thousand runners (1,014) in the four divisions. “Lake Hamilton Invitational is a very competitive meet. We saw what could possibly be the top teams in every division in the state,” said El Dorado coach John Koonce.
