Extreme landscaping

Out with the old: Members of the Union County Master Gardeners, from left, Melba Ainsworth, Jean Eckert, Barbie Luther and Charlotte Abbott, watch as Union County workers remove holly bushes and red-tipped photinia from around the Barton Library in El Dorado. Workers started on the project earlier this week, but rain hampered efforts on Thursday and Friday. Union County Judge Mike Loftin and his crew, at the request of the Master Gardeners, removed many of the 60-year-old shrubs and Master Gardeners are making plans to plant new flowers and bushes, with plans to complete the project in time for the Murphy Arts District events scheduled for the end of September.

Change of venue for concert series

Due to inclement weather, tomorrow’s Murphy USA Summer Concert Series has been relocated to the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium. The “Showdown at Sunset” outdoor performance has been cancelled.

Showdown, concert series returns Saturday

EL DORADO — The first performance of the award-winning “Showdown at Sunset” will be Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. There will be three performances total, with the others being July 22, and August 26th. The productions will take place on the steps of the Union County Courthouse in the center of historic Union Square in Downtown El Dorado.
