DALLAS - El Dorado’s Elizabeth Wells bogged down on the front nine Monday and shot 84 to tie for 56th after the first round of the 78th Women’s TRANS Amateur Championship, which is being held at the Bent Tree Country Club.

Wells has some work to do today when she tees off at 8 a.m. The 75-player field will be cut in half after today’s 18 holes and match play will begin on Wednesday.

“It was just one of those days,” said Wells, who estimates she needs to shoot at least 77 today to advance to match play.
