Twenty-eight golfers competed for four spots Monday in Denver. El Dorado’s Elizabeth Wells finished fifth.

Wells fell one stroke short in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Sectional Qualifier at the Colorado Golf Club, losing on the sixth playoff hole for the final berth in the U.S. Women’s Amateur.

“This is like the worst loss of my life. I’m so upset,” said Wells. “I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say.”
