![]() News-Times/Chris Vinn Life line...More than a mile of fire hose runs down the shoulder of Lapile Road east of Strong to provide water for homes who receive water through the Batts Chapel-Lapile Water Association. Numerous residents of the area are without water after a creek bed collapsed onto a water line, disrupting service. Residents of the Batts Chapel-Lapile communities say they are coping with a water shortage caused by a break in the main water line. Cindy Woolsey, spokeswoman for the Batts Chapel-Lapile Water Association, reported that damage occurred to the water line on Oct. 19 after heavy rains inundated Lapile Creek, causing its banks to crush the water pipe. A downed tree added to the damage. Five fire hoses are being run from the New London Water Association to provide temporary water supplies for about 75 households in the area.
