The first 11 days of this month have been the wettest in Arkansas since the first half of May in 1882.

Yep, that’s right – it hasn’t been this rainy in early May for 127 years.

The rain has swollen some creeks and rivers beyond their banks, submerged thousands of acres of crops for more than a week, flooded several homes and overwhelmed many roads and highways across the state.

“The rest of the week we’ll have a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day,” said Chris Buonanno, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in North Little Rock.
