WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Barack Obama has approved Ashley and Howard counties as primary, natural disaster areas due to severe storms and tornadoes that occurred on April 9.

In accordance with Section 321(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act, Union County was named as a contiguous disaster area.

Farmers in the disaster areas have until Dec. 28 to apply for the loans to help cover part of their actual losses. Producers must have suffered physical loss or at least a 30 percent loss of normal production in a single enterprise, be able to repay the loan...
