MCNEIL – Taste, see and smell homemade jerky being made at the upcoming, first ever, Homemade Jerky Contest to be held April 18 at the second annual Festival on the Rails in McNeil. In addition to jerky tasting, other festival activities include music, arts and crafts, food, horseshoe tournament and more.

Reynolds Forestry is donating a $500 prize for the jerky that comes in first and $100 for the booth with the best presentation.

Registrations will be accepted through April 17. The fee is $35 per entry, but contestants may enter as many flavors as desired with that on...
