The Union County Democratic Party selected its candidate Friday for a special election that will be held in April to fill a vacant seat on the El Dorado City Council.

Lola J. Moore won her party’s nomination during a special meeting of the Union County Central Democratic Committee. Moore is seeking the Ward 3, Position 2 seat that became open following the death of Alderman Jimmy Reed in January.

A special election will be held on April 14. Five candidates met the Feb. 17 deadline to file for the position.
