During a medical appointment before surgery, Clarence Ritchey’s doctor delivered some unexpected news.

“He told me, ‘You’ve got diabetes,’” recalled Ritchey. “I said, ‘Oh really?’”

Ritchey, a 51-year-old Junction City resident, has been going to the South Arkansas Diabetes Center at 460 W. Oak since the fall — about a year and a half after his diagnosis — to tap the center’s medical treatment and educational resources.
