NORPHLET – During the January meeting of the Norphlet City Council, Cecil Polk was sworn in as a new council member, according to Mayor Jim Crotty. Also, Jan Kennedy was appointed to the vacant position of recorder/treasurer.

In other business, the council heard a positive report regarding the water and sewer, and also a good accounting report, Crotty said. More projects are projected for future water and sewer updates.

Within the next month, a weather siren will be in place in downtown Norphlet.

Discussion was held regarding putting city maps on CDs.
