For the first time in recent memory, a Union County resident took part in presidential election history by casting a vote in the electoral college. Kermit Parks of El Dorado and six other Arkansans voted Monday morning in Little Rock during a ceremony filled with pomp and pageantry.

They cast their votes for John McCain and Sarah Palin, formally throwing the state’s support behind the loser in the presidential contest for the first time in four decades.
