Promise brings Houston family to El Dorado

Since the move, the family has been staying at the Salvation Army shelter as Coleman works and saves for a house of their own.
Bernadette Coleman’s daily routine can get a little hectic at times. Her days start early as she readies her five children for school, shuttles them to three different elementary schools, and then heads off to her own job at a local apartment complex, and at the end of the day, the process reverses as the family reconvenes for dinner and homework at its new home - the Salvation Army’s shelter.

Coleman, 27, is not the average shelter resident, however. She landed in the arms of the Salvation Army not because of money or health issues, but because she wants the best for her children,...
