Thirteenth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Robin J. Carroll announced Thursday that his office will work in cooperation with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and FBI to prosecute cases under Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal initiative to reduce gun crimes in America.

The goal, according to a news release from Carroll, is to keep firearms out of the hands of felons and reduce gun crimes, using stiffer federal penalties as a deterrent.
