Governor Mike Beebe, the Arkansas Municipal League and the DHS Division of Volunteerism are sponsoring the annual Arkansas Volunteer Community of the Year Awards. The El Dorado Chamber of Commerce is nominating the City of El Dorado for this award, according to DeLora Morgan at the chamber.

Twelve communities will be selected to receive recognition for their volunteer efforts. A committee of citizens who represent a cross section of Arkansas will make this selection and the awards will then be presented in the fall of this year, according to Morgan.
