Mold, mildew, rotted floors, broken windows and a deteriorating gym awaited the folks from Bible Baptist Church when they showed up to take over the James Johnson Gymnasium – the old Boys Club on South Detroit Street. Owned by Union County, the gym did not offer much in looks, but the Weido brothers saw only potential and hope in the building as part of the Character First of El Dorado program.
