Permits for the proposed Ouachita River wastewater pipeline project have been reissued and will go into effect on Aug. 1, an official with the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality’s water division said this week.

Mo Shafi, assistant chief of ADEQ’s water division, said the package of National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permits for the project were reissued following a June 27 hearing, in which the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission denied an appeal filed by opposition groups in Arkansas and Louisiana and by the state of Louisiana.
