Come August, Union County will have a new tax collector...temporarily.

Dorothy Raley, who has served as the county’s tax collector since 1997, announced that she is opting to defer her retirement under a state benefits rule that will allow her to keep working.

But to do that, she must step down for a period of 90 days, per the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System’s rules.
