The state law that affects candidates filing for school board elections has changed and this year, candidates must file their petition beginning Friday through noon on July 18, according to Margaret Callihan, school district coordinator for Union County schools. School elections this year will be held Sept. 16.

Each school district in the county will have members whose terms expire this year and two districts, El Dorado and Junction City, will ask voters to approve changes – not increases – to their millages.
