![]() News-Times/Janice McIntyre Monument damaged...Vandals damaged this monument on the Union County Courthouse lawn Friday night, according to the El Dorado police. The monument reads, ‘In memory of United Spanish War Veterans, 1898,’ and includes names of veterans on two granite markers on each side of the center piece. News-Times Staff Vandals toppled a six-foot tall, granite monument on the west side of the Union County Courthouse Friday, and authorities are reviewing surveillance video that captured the incident. Union County Judge Bobby Edmonds said he discovered the damage to the monument when he went to the courthouse early Saturday morning to take care of some business.
