 News-Times/Jim Lemon Announcing gift...Madison Murphy, representing the Murphy Foundation, announces that the foundation is giving the Salvation Army a gift of $100,114.83. The announcement was made Friday at the Salvation Army headquarters. The Salvation Army received a life-affirming boost on Friday from the Murphy Foundation. Capt. Donnie Marvels and Madison Murphy announced to a crowd gathered in the Salvation Army parking lot that the Murphy Foundation has recently donated to the Salvation Army $100,114.83. “In the past seven months, we have served 13,563 people in Union County,” Marvels said. “In response to these numbers, we realized it would take money above and beyond what is represented in our budget.
