Despite being covered from head to toe in greasy oil-field muck, a Smackover man on Saturday was unable to slip past authorities after allegedly stealing $4,000 worth of oil production equipment from a field in Ouachita County.

Alex Bethany, 26, of Smackover, is being held today in the Ouachita County Jail awaiting his first appearance in court.
